We’ll its finally here. After many months of debate about TIFS given by the city and the idea “If we build it, will they come?” The Kansas City Power and Light District is up and running!
In KC the downtown area has been “revitalized” and it has become the newest destination in the city. This weekend was my first time to experience it and it was better than expected. Of course there were parking issues, but what can you expect with no public transportation? We got lucky though and got around just fine. There really is something for everyone, from dueling pianos to a cowboy bar. The environment was safe and there is some crazy open container rule, but I just can’t get used to carrying my drink around. If you are in the area, it definitely deserves a stop, especially if you remember what it used to be like.
Kansas City has taken a big step to turn around a run down part of town, I just hope people will continue to flock to the district after the fad fades away.
